That was tops. I guess it's a status thing. Kinda like the guy that is afraid to be seen in a minivan. I'll keep my $70 grand 35-40 hour a week job that requires minimal thinking and no education. Don't even need to shave or smell good

Can't believe the dude flipped out from being fired from the law enforcement field. I know he was prior service and they don't make Jack there either but they also don't need to buy much. unlike the real world.

I am a 55 year old that is going back to school to learn to drive a truck. Owned a vending company and sold it in 2000. Decided that I needed to make a living with my mind instead of my back so I went back to school to get the hours I needed to sit for the CPA exam. After I got my hours I went to every CPA office and applied to many companies. The companies said that I would never be happy starting at the bottom and finally a CPA was truthful with me. He said that public accountants would never hire me, as I knew how the game was played and they were not about to train me just to go into business against them. Continued to do some accounting work for myself until 2009. Since that time I have worked for 3 companies. One good and the other 2 I would not recommend to my worst enemy. Had some friends suggest that I learn to drive a truck and go OTR and that is just what I am going to do.
Any advice anyone has to offer would be greatly appreciated. ThanksZen Trucker Thanks this. -
I'm out of the aerospace industry too. Bombardier will be hiring soon as they gear up to fill a 7 billion dollar contract out of Downsview if you're interested in going back. Great company. I got laid off because the Dash 8's weren't selling well. -
You must have something going on, if they are paying you $70K for barley 40hrs. Can't they outsource that for half that money? I'm not busting your chops, but hoping to see where I should be pointing my plans/moves.
Of course your secret would be safe with me if you want to PM me. J

Most individuals with degrees responding are company drivers . The OP considered trucking as a business . Would that possibly be as a fleet owner ?
Take a good look at the industry the last several years . Expenses keep rising with higher prices on fuel , parts , trucks , insurance and taxes .
If drivers are hired health insurance is a real killer .
Not what about revenue ? Rates have been flat and even dropped . Just about anyother business wil give a better ROI than trucking . -
