As the driver that posted this last night in another thread.. about rookie mistakes...

How do you argue this with the dot? He says it is so it is.. Even if I argued it and won I would still have points on my license because getting the feds to drop points takes a lot of time and effort that we just don't have or hiring a lawyer that you can't afford....

you both are wrong, they leased the turnpike to a group for a set amount of money for so many years, it was in the billions, they have already spent most of the money.

reading comprehension seems to be a lost ability these days, either that or folks see what they want to see.

and just how often do lights go out in transit? rarely, some act as if it happens every time

It happens... on my tractor its usually headlamps or the backup lamps. Everything else seems to do fine. I also carry spares.

Had a headlamp die rolling into the Knoxville coop last year, so it can happen. Fortunately the bear was busy doing whatever it is that they do when traffic is rolling through, and they're not in the office.

When do they burn out then.... Most lights burn out at 1 of 3 times.. When turned off or on.... and while burning.. It happens all the time. Does it happen everyday no... but if I ever get stopped for it I can 100% guarantee it happened after I left.. I check them at every stop.

Revisiting, OH used to be called Slow-hio. IN is a probable cause state, and if a truck targeting LEO is about, they need very little excuse to stop you. I have talked to drivers from OH and MI and many have told me they do everything in IN as legal as possible, enforcement loves to get the neighbors, I guess.

I seldom go anywhere on the IN Toll Road, it has several alternatives, depending on where you are going.

Lighting failures aren't always the lamps, wiring itself is involved in almost as many failures in my experience. I always swap a working bulb into the headlight assembly before I assume it is the bulb, something I learned from buying new bulbs and not having the light repaired when the bulb was replaced.

with over 1.5 mil miles & not 1 violation other than a marker light & 1 time relfective tape faded in some spots. my record speaks for itself. I do a complete pre/post trip insp. check every time I stop. fuel/load/unload. e.t.c. that is why I have a very good compliance record. I have yet to hear from the d.o.t. or anyone how to know & or prevent a light from going out before it does. everything has to go out sometime. the fact that someone has a spare light & replaces on the spot, such as a tag light in daylight.. well if that is not enough to satisfy the d.o.t. or the kiss butt d.o.t on here, then so be it. THERE IS NO MORE ON CAN DO BUT REPLACE IT!
