Truckers Tailgating

If they’re spaced it could be the adaptive cruise control
If tight. Brake check!!

I have a Maserati
We went out for dinner and some dimwit was on my Az in a 35mph zone through residential area

Simply locked them up
They quickly went pretty far back
Probably never figured a car like that would chance a rear end collision


I know. Before you light me up. That’s not a good solution but hey. An ant was crossing the street. What’s a guy to do?

 

Yup, if you want someone to speed up, just getting the next lane like you’re going to pass them and they magically find the accelerator

 

Lots of bad habits in today’s drivers, I don’t recall getting the memo saying they stopped putting turn signals on trucks. Trucks cutting off another one to take an exit like the 4 wheelers is something else I’m noticing more and more. Smdh

 

Please explain how ones speed being limited to 65 (or whatever speed) would contribute to that person tailgating, or being tailgated?

Tailgating is a choice made only by the driver doing it.

 

Stupidity. That's it and that's all. That's why when it snows 2 snowflakes there's a 147 car pileup

 

Tailgating is the one law that not many officers seems to be enforcing much as pretty much the majority of drivers whether car or truck is less than one second behind another vehicle.

Tailgating is the biggest reason collisions happen all the time.

 

The #2 feels already burdened by driving "just" 65 mph. He eventually finds himself creeping up on #1 doing 64.99 . Does he volunteer to give up more miles driven today & arrive even later at his parking. #2 doesn't know if #1 is exiting in 4 miles or not for another 8 hours. If the next few hours are hilly or curvy or high traffic it's not easy to "throw away time".

 

Many “super truckers” think that if they get somewhere a few minutes later than expected than they’re going to lose their behinds…many couldn’t even tell you how much delays they have anyway..if getting somewhere is that important, you should’ve left earlier.

Following at 100 feet gets the driver there at the same time (less 3 or so seconds), less safely and with more stress, then he would have following at 400 feet.

You mentioned less than .1% (less than one tenth of 1 percent) speed difference.
How much time is that exactly wasting at those speeds over a few hours time?

Give up more miles?
Given that scenario it would be much less than 1 mile.

Even at a full 1 mph difference it would amount to only a few minutes.
