Wasn't Brown and Root an LBJ owned company way back when?

Yep, sure was! Thumbing thru photos and snapped couple more. This one made me chuckle because what is leaned up against bicycle. KIMG2871.JPG
The 2.5 ton LMTV was having a gun turret welded up. Our welder was the best I have ever seen. Union welder from Chicago area, so he liked to make the daily actylene bomb. KIMG2870.JPG

My unit was very fortunate on convoys, but proved a couple times that ballistic glass worked.

Here's another photo of truck brother drove. 99, N-14 525, 18 speed, 4.56 rears. It ran well. We submitted this photo in Overdrive magazine back in the day. KIMG2863.JPG

Well, I know first hand that a DDEC2 Detroit would shutdown @ 120 ambient air temp before had the software reflashed! Mid 120's was highest I recall. Army used to give a what I feels like temperature with a "wet ball" reading. 153 was the highest I remember. The medics were setting thermometers on asphalt that day and they would break in under 10 minutes.

I'm looking to buy a used euro 5 12 ton box truck to transport my offroad jeep in. I will only be driving on highways so i would like to find a highway spec 12 ton truck.
Should one get a MAN TGL or Merc Atego or Volvo FL? The MAN seems like a good choice as its DPF and EGR only.
Will a 4 cyl engine be enough for the highway or is a 6 cyl engine a must?

    Stay away from MAN/Scania Euro5 without DEF/Ad-Blue.
    Very bad engines.
