Trucking in North America vs around the world

Up here, 50 kms into the bush is a very short run to pavement, but you could also have a long drive on pavement once you reach it.
A friend of mine is on a run right now that he said he is driving as fast as he can and not crash, makes 1 load a day, takes him 13 hours. He does 471 kms per day empty, and 471 more loaded, 61% of it offroad, 39% on pavement. When I can drive again, they want me to come do that run. I am considering it. Will probably make a trip with my friend one day soon, to see it. We met hauling logs, and I trust his driving. Many of my friends were met logging. I have only one friend left from high school, and he is also a truck driver.
I got him interested in it because he used to ride with me some.
Then he got into trucking, hauled lumber to the coast for 2 years, quit and began driving logging truck for Delchako, did that for 3 years, and bought his own truck and trailer, hasn't looked back since. He did total that 1st truck, launched it into the woods when he didn't make a corner. Spent 8 months healing up and rehab, then he bought another truck and went back hauling logs. Got married a few years ago, to a sweetheart of a woman who runs a processor.

 

I liked the shorter trips myself. 30k up the mountain, 30-60 minutes of pavement to the mill. Usually out around Blue River.

 

Never logged in that area myself.

 

Here everything is collected, bad trees and scrap are milled into woodchip and goes for pellets or plywood.

They replant as well but they care s lot for animals, errosion and other things that can go wrong after logging.

We have forest behind my house. They were thinning it and than also they made cannal to protect our place against floods (we never had problems but many neigbhours had), soon after they made cannal we get flood in our basement despite cannal, that was only time but still not Nice when you have to get new wash machine, freezer and other things

 

I really love the blue color on this truck.

 

But can it leave the dealership parking lot without bottoming out?
The cab blue is nice, but the frame blue is horrible.
Black would have looked much nicer.

 

I agree, a little too much contrast between the two shades of blue for my taste.

Wonder how silver would look? I still like my black frames. Thought of painting my W900A frame blue again but black seems to hide dirt better.

 

i almost always left it deafult dark grey, it is powder paint, it dont rust, dont chips like any lack color.
if you have to do any work on chassis it is easy to paint this piece only, it dont lose its look over years like other colors.
there is choice of over 150 chassis paints.
some people want chassis dark red color as a traditional color which was standard till 1993 (i would do it for my taste too).
army wants green.
scania customers ask for bright red sometimes.
factory use white color for test ground trucks to easier spot crack

here we talk about 3x of legal weight, about 260k lbs, this wood is 1150-1200kg / m3, dont know how you specify density of logs in N/A.
