Diesel electric is a more attainable goal here IMO.



They built a proof of concept truck using a 1962 Kenworth heavy spec truck. 8,800 kg bobtail and fuel economy of 12L/100 km bobtail. That's about 20 mpg.

I like the simplicity. Its designed by drivers, not a bunch of pencil pushers.

 

A tractor unit is the best when it achieves the highest payload with the maximum interior space and comfort using the smallest amount of fuel with the highest levels of reliability. This is DAF's new XG tractor unit that is the only one designed to revised European regulations regarding dimensions. I would like to see any US truck compete with this operating in Europe (yes, I realise it's owned by PACCAR but it is still a European truck).

Was in Western China some years ago. Draw bar trailers are not so common in China as in Sweden. The lowerer pics ware taken in Kashgar as also the upper pic.

that used to be COE and it is converted into conventional, very expensive conversion, dutch made.
new generation is very ugly with this conversion, however 5days ago norweigan version appeared
