Wait, people don't like truck drivers?
I had no idea, maybe because I don't give a duck what anyone thinks as long as my bills paid.
Trucking industry ever running problem let's bring change.

That's negative thinking... If they don't like us they hammer us with more regulations till your bills can't be paid... So we need to do something to change that...

1. Lead by example. You can start by providing that image that you think the public needs to see. We don't need to march on Washington or sit on wall street like those sniveling whiners. It all starts with one or several drivers that others aspire to imitate.
2. Vote. You may think that your vote does not count but it all starts at the local level. You may have someone that you like in an election but they need votes. Remember, the feds only set minimum rules and regulations. The state and local governments make things even more restrictive. Start local and get things changed on the way up the ladder. When you started driving you did not start at the top of the ladder in pay, you work your way up.
3. Hit enter once in a while. Makes your posts more readable.
Lead by example and things will change, slowly but they will change. It takes a long time to get a train to stop so that you can change directions. This country has been going down the wrong tracks for so long it is going to take some time to get it stopped and change directions. It's probably not going to happen in our lifetime but it has to start sometime. Don't think that you cannot make a difference, you may not see it but others do.
As for marching and demonstrating, that is for teat suckers. Kinda like what is the problem with shaking the had of someone with small pox? You have to touch them. Same thing with going to Washington DC (and that's not distribution center...LOL)MJ1657 Thanks this. -

It's so hard to drum up support, as many drivers have Tampa Tony's view. Kind of like farmers ( ever been to a farm auction? The other farmers pick at the dead farmers stuff like vultures) If one driver refuses a load, for whatever reason, there's always another that will latch on to it. The problem, I think, is trucking is not a "one fix cures all", as trucking has so many different facets to it, and what applies to one, doesn't always apply to all. Which was one reason I was an "outlaw trucker", meaning I broke every rule that would bend, and got away with it for the most part, but those days are over, and like I say, it's going to be an uphill battle for you. Fuel mileage? That hasn't changed in 50 years, and I hate to tell you who's behind that. Like I said before, you probably won't get a lot of support here, but you are on the right track.

Tampa I was born in raised in Cali so cal. Moved to ny. Personal reason it has nothing to do with area this view on trucking is wide spread.... I understand you may live in the country and I thank you because I am sure you are out weeks at a time from your family to provide for them.... But you even know that the public eye has been changing from what it use to be... I am not scared mind you I can careless and maybe I am wasting my youth and time in this industry to help or to try to make a difference maybe you are right.. But I love what I do... But not scared I am young so I have time.. Un like some that are veterans and have seen the best of times and the worst of times...
TampaTony Thanks this. -
From what I see,the economy is crashing, truck orders are down, layoffs announced every day.
I see a very weak freight market.
I guess what we thought was depression,was actually a recovery...shesh. -
