When you are in Canada you will obey Canadian laws. You will have to have a Canada Customs bond number for your intransit manifest. It will be signed off by U.S. customs at Alcan who are supposed to send them to Canadian customs. Make sure you keep copies in case they don't send them. Brokers and PARS stickers are not required.

Sorry wasn't clear in my question: was asking if possible to run a longer wheelbase than 244 in. only on the AlCan. and if there might be a grandfather clause for older tractors.

The quick answer is no. Even if you could run the Highway over 244" you would have the problem of getting there. Mile zero is Dawson Creek. There is no grandfathering in for older tractors, however, and don't ask me why, if your trailer is pre 1985 the wheelbase law does not apply. Also if you are under 65' 6" from front bumper of tractor to rearmost part of trailer a permit can be purchased. The wheelbase law is only enforced in B.C.

Is their a website that has Canada's Federal trucking regulations ( like our FMCSRs)? I have been searching all weekend but have come up dry.

Does each province have its own set of trucking regulations or is their only a set of federal regulations? (Like HOS in BC vs AB)

    thanks,
    Andrew
