In Alaska we would chain up our garbage trucks in November and leave them chained up all winter, singles on 4 outside drives.Pewag chains, wear them down 1/3 of the way then flip them over. One set would last all winter. When freezing rain hit we would put at least one on a steer. This was all on flat ground,no mountains.
