See because even though I voted libertarian last election, I am a social libertarian but probably bordering on socialist economically. I like capitalism, but I don't like the frightening consolidation of wealth that has occurred in the last 40 years.

What is it to vote libertarian?
There are always only 2 choices that actually count and matter.
Red or blue, right or left. All others count for nothing more than not voting at all.

And that hoarding of wealth does not happen in a socialist or communist system... ?
Please!!! Tell me how the people in power are on the same level as those they rule.

voting libertarian means voting for the libertarian candidate running... which if most people looked past the stupidity of the right and left, we would be in a better place then we are now.

People always make the argument that a vote for a third party candidate is a wasted vote. I think voting for the main two parties are wasted votes.

I agree with both of you.

And yet what I said is still valid.
There are not enough people voting that way to make a difference.

And even if that third party got in office, I wonder what difference it would make in the end.
The House and Senate would still be controlled by one of the two others, so what would get done?

And even if, on the off chance, every vote from every person chose that third party in every election for every position... do you think it would really make a fundamental difference to how things are run?

    I don't.
Those third parties would have their differences in opinions and viewpoints, and it would be the same old thing again with different factions.

Maybe someone can show me somewhere in history that someone in power actually used that position to benefit the people they governed?

I am not a student of history, so it may have happened.
But from what I have seen, people that seek a position of influence or power end up just trying to impose their will on others.

Lots of good points being made. I like the video, for what it was.

One of the things missed in the video was the way drivers are treated. You’re held up for Six hours, but there’s no bathroom available at the shipper?

The shippers throw up their hands and say “ the drivers are pigs and destroy the bathrooms”.

So, who hired those piggish drivers? The people the shipper hired to move their freight. So, who’se problem is it that there are piggish drivers? It’s on the shippers themselves for not having any vetting in place and having any vendor standards in place.

Back in the days I was a shipper, we used an LTL carrier who had a driver, Dave, who was a great guy, always on time, always friendly, but the girls in the office had wet wipes in their desk drawer because anything Dave touched stunk. And stunk bad. For DAYS.

I ended up calling the company and telling them Dave could no longer be on our route, unless he learned how to bathe more than twice a year.

Big companies would just say “no drivers inside”, and think they solved the problem. The problem isn’t that the bathroom is wrecked or the phone needs a wet wipe before it can be used again. The problem is that the shippers have no standards.

That I can wholeheartedly agree with you on. But I have to be the change I wish to see.

Many drivers have no standards either.
There are some real pigs out there, and it makes it hard for all of us.

A battle is not won with wishes...
    Except within oneself.

Conviction of heart and spirit to a higher goal is never in vain.
