i was told this by my recruiter They have just one bunk in them. Some drivers actually like them. You get 5cpm more if you get a lightweight truck . Out of training you will start at 39cpm if you get the lightweight. If you are going to be a company
driver, chances are about 99% you are going to get a lightweight truck.

    Lil Red Head Thanks this.

Depends on what kinda truck you get. I had a lightweight pete. It had no passenger seat, only 1 fuel tank very little storage and you could not stand up in it.

The internationals I believe are tall enough to stand up but have even less storage, but 2 fuel tanks

you are assigned a truck before you see it. But you can talk to your fm about switching if you have a problem with the one you are given.

its cheaper for them to run. if they pay you 5 cpm extra, they must be saving a bit. Plus the extra pay they get do to you being able to pull heavier loads.

Me personally would not go into a lease just to get out of a lightweight truck. Leaseing is a serious deal and you need to go into understanding what it really means and for the right reasons.

They do lightweights because they make more money off them. Not to mention the trucks are cheaper to buy.

Difference is they have just one bunk and less storage space.

The 2012 have duel fuel tanks, an APU, and DEF. Most of them are really nice actually.

The advantage to a lightweight is they are a lot easier to turn and to back because they are smaller.

I look at this way. I'd rather take a near brand new/new lightweight truck then them give me a beat up century.

I will be getting mine Friday hopefully and I will put up pics and a video walk through of it considering how common this topic is getting on here.

JCW got a brand new truck w/25k on the clock. Yes, he had to go retrieve it. But he likes his. His doesn't have an APU, yet. But he'll inquire about getting it put in at the 50k PM.

i do like the idea of them having a better turning radius that will come in handy with tight docks

he can call the apu shop and schedule and appt now. IT's got a long waiting list so the faster he gets on it the better.
