Heard the Wilson 2000 was a good antenna ... Just a basic set up here.
-
The only shafts available now is the 5 & 10. Wilson discontinued the rest. But two 10's make a 20 inch. You can get 10 inch shafts from Bell's CB Shop. $9.99 + shipping. All you need then is the but connector which they have if you don't a unused mount around.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this.

It Is a decent antenna. Hardly one size fits all though. Hustler dealers sell many different shaft lengths depending on application

Only attaching it to a Cobra 29LX.

What do you mean it is a guessing game?
You know that there is some thing called science behind it with those long formulas which not many of us remember.
But that said, yes it is dependent on the Q and other factors in the load. Adding one foot may only require 1 or 3 or 5 inches cut off the top.TheDude1969 Thanks this. -
I extended my oil coil antenna again. By another 8". Shortened the whip by 2" for it to be dead on.
rabbiporkchop and TheDude1969 Thank this. -
So how does it work compared to the 102"?
-
I haven't really been able to make a determination. Born work very well.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I did some reading on Q factoring, tell me if I'm understanding this...
as an example:By adding 8" below the coil he lowered (improved) his Q factor. Thus making it taller and more broadband? Any other benefits to this? Are the numbers above significant enough to hear/transmit further?Last edited: Mar 28, 2016
