Indiana Western Express and Central trucking inc both have a large operation in Kingman. That's 2 hours from Vegas. CTI is even advertising on Crags list. Don't know if they take newbies. :yes2557:

Knight has a yard/office out by the Pilot here in Vegas. (Ask for Jana) Pan Western is out on Donovan road. I think Knight takes on school grads. Not to sound negative but your probably going to have to settle for a big outfit and get a year of abuse in. IWX out of Kingman wants you to have the Haz-Mat. They haul paint and such. Orientation will be in Springfield Missouri. 1 Day and your on your way driver! Don"t know much about CTI except when the produce season is on stay out of the way of those Petes with the long hoods...them guys can run! Wish I could help you more...Oh yeah just a few more outfits popped into my pea brain. Ruan and that outfit out of Portland...Market Transport? Dog gone it another one comes to mind. I think Watkins Shepard has a drop lot/office in Vegas. They might take grads. Same with Andrus. I know they have a drop lot in Vegas. Andrus advertises in the Review Journal a lot. You can hook on to one of those trailers loaded with rolls of paper and practice sliding the 5th and axelling out. Sometimes it is a real hoot to make them loads some what legal!

IWX will hire with one year reefer experience ... and ya kind of have to know somebody unless they are hurting for drivers (which they ar not) CTI used to take bums off the street, but now they are strict about 2yrs OTR. Another company to look at after you get expereince is First Fleet. Great company, great pay. And no I do not work for them (they hire out of vegas though)

Can you guys that haul tankers in Vegas recommend a good company to haul gas for? I have over ten years experience and am thinking of moving there. Thanks!

I've been gone awhile but things don't changed that much. Chevron would be the top but beware they might close up shop there. Rebel has it's own little world away from the common carrier pipeline but they are a close group of friends. Thier office is away from the tank farm and it used to be close to the spaghetti bowl on Bonanze ave (I think). Toby would be the man to see if he's still there. Cool picked up all the ARCO accounts and their drivers too but they are ok. Fredrickson is the common carrier that's low on the list or they were anyway. Ken Bettiridge is outstanding but he runs out of Utah, he still loads in Vegas but his trucks are from up north. There are many others but those have been there awhile. Maybe someone else can chime in here with current info.

You might want to consider Watkins Shepard. they have a small terminal on Valley View, just north of Sunset. All the recruiting is done out of the home office in Missoula, MT.

One of the best things about them is that you get your own truck after the 10 day orientation, no riding with a trainer/team driver for six weeks. Some other folks here think that's the worst thing about them, though.

If you feel confident handling a truck on your own, it might not be bad way to get your career started.

You might already know this but all of the gasoline is pulled from the pipeline out by the A.F. Base. North Las Vegas blvd pass the gate on to Sloan rd then turn right. See if Jim Gentry is still around and he'll fix you up with the lastest info on who and where.

Is CTI (Central Refrigerated Inc.) a good company to work for? Good company to get 1 year experience in reefer hauling and then go somewhere else? I don't know how difficult it is to run a reefer...as long as the reefer is working properly and produce stays cold, what else is there to do as a driver?

CTI, hear both good and bad. Call 'em, see what they say.
