What's SWR meter on radio say. Wiggle coax and see if meter fluctuates. I always have to connect/disconnect once or twice on my cascadia factory coax to get a match under 3

I get match between 1 and end of meter each night. Little adjustment gets it to a decent SWR

    JReding Thanks this.

    1. Go to the thread CW SPOOK linked to and read post 24-33. No need to read the whole thing. P.S. you can get away with a 5ft top loaded antenna and forget the brace, especially if you stay in the middle of the CB band. Pretty simple, go for it.

Well he aint in europe and those mounts do nothing for him on a crapcadia..Fresh coax(15' 2 or 4" i forget exact)..Cascadia mirror mount(not single stud style) and the longest ant you can get away with with tuneable tip..7 ft skip shooter there..Got pvc pipe on it to keep it from swayin to much..

I didn't want to go all the way yet, so I stuck with the 3' Francis for now, as well as the coax upgrade. These are my results right now. I have a friend's test meter, I just need to get a jump cable for it, then I can fine tune. I haven't had anyone I can talk to yet to test it out.

Is there such a thing as getting the SWR too low?

DO NOT use the internal meter.

ALSO anything below 1.5 to 1 is good.

Why shouldn't I use the internal meter?

Accuracy which the internal meter is not. Find someone with a RIG EXPERT or at the very least a MFJ ANALYSER to check your SWRS
