    You wouldn't.

    For instance:

    - WinXP is a good OS. Many people are still using XP to this day because it still provides everything they need.
    - Win7 is a very good OS too. I suspect that Windows 8 will have a slow adoption rate for those who already have Win7 on their machine because it will still be doing what they need it too for years to come.

Where you are going to see the Win8 rollout is going to be when you buy a new computer starting late this year and to a larger extent Win7 will phase out on new systems through 2013. In addition Win8 is built to be much more tablet-friendly so you will see it be a more logical OS for those switching to touchpad devices as Microsoft enters the pad arena in earnest for the first time against Android and Apple pads.

Win 8 sucks for me too! The real bummer is that even waiting for the NEXT release will not probably not be the same as in the past where it is better. Unless they go back to the 'Start button' model... fat chance.

I don't see Windows 7 going away any time soon. Businesses, which is/was Microsoft's primary audience, aren't going to adapt to this new interface. They will pay extra for the Win 7 downgrade rather than spend thousands of dollars in training costs and lost productivity so their employees can adapt. Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot with this one.

Zorin is a great alternative for most people. It's not Windows, but Windows users will feel right at home using it. (screenshot below.)
