are you Army? do you have Army College Fund? if so sign up for an accredited tech college course for your cdl. the acf sends you a check every month while you are in training. it is tuition reimbursement so no tax on it. you do have to pay up front for the course.

than you have your cdl and your choice of companies to start with. companies pay you for training once you are driving otr with a trainer. most are 500-600 per week.

I agree with Avenger, the ACF or the GI Bill will help to pay for your schooling so long as it is accepted. Check with them prior to starting anything.

Check closely... look at grants. My wife and I took a two month CDL course at a tech. School in Knoxville, Tn., After getting the Powerball lottery grant offered by the state, we walked out at $750 each! Some VA funds are a available also.

Thank you for saying this - it is a lot different than driving in the military.

By the way, if you are willing to do this for a year commitment, just get a company to train you.

Now I haven't checked Swift in a while but money wise Prime use to beat them hands down. Plus prime I think just raised training pay to $700 a week and starting pay after training to .43cpm plus up to .06cpm fuel bonus paid each week.
