Yes flatbeds and tankers do make more than vans. I can't help with info as far as Maverick or Schneider but I can tell you that Boyd Bros has been good to us so far. They pay $500 a wk during training (you have to go to school on your own) & orientation. Then it's .38cpm plus tarp and other things. They also offer sign on bonus' in many cases.

Good luck whichever route you choose.

Looked at Boyd Bros, love what I see except the 3 months flat bed experience. So guess I'd have to go get experience driving flat bed for another company before going to them. It also say no DUI convictions in the last 5 years, which is good for me. Still haven't been able to talk to my lawyer but figured I'd ask someone here if they have any experience. If I got an Article 894 DUI and had it expunged would I need to tell them about it? My probation officer told me if you get a record expunged then you can't legally say no to a conviction. Anyway thanks for all the help, this website has been of great help to me so far and really excited and anxious to get the ball officially rolling by starting CDL school. Don't plan starting CDL school until I have my official expungment papers in my hand. I know there's a lot of people on here that say how much they hate trucking but this is a career that I can't get out of my head. Really want to get started.

As for the experience part, they hire straight from school. My bf is doing his coil training this week. Once all his tests are passed, he'll be in his own truck next weekend. He graduated his school 2mths ago.

On the DUI part, I have no clue. All I can say is good luck.

That's good to here. How did he pay for school? The school I'm looking at is about $3500 and is 3 weeks long they also do all endorsements. Thing is I gotta take off work 3 weeks and use my own money which the wife isn't liking too much. Did he take out a business loan? I think she is more comfortable with the company sponsored training which would probably result in me becoming a low payed slave. But, I'll do what I have to. Did your BF say what the hometime will be like? Couldn't find it on their website. Again thanks for all the help and glad everything is going well with your BF.

His school was around $2000 and a small local school. He paid for it up front and did odd jobs while in school. They only did the endorsements if you wanted them and you paid the difference. My bf didn't do them. He also knew he wanted to go with Boyd from the start and they are the only company whose app he turned in.

If it will help your wife any, they do tuition reimbursement at $150 a month after your training period is over. As for hometime, it's mainly on where home is. They try for every weekend. During his training, I believe he's only missed one or two. Most he talked to have said they mainly only stay out if they choose to.

Feel free to pm me if you'd like.
