Keep in mind and not trying to discourage,
As a truck owner and I own 3 trucks and trailers.
The truck will become your mistress
The trucks new or old require attention
You need to stay proactive on maintenance not reactive.
You will spend your time off doing things like greasing crawling under the truck several times a week to check things out. Running and getting parts and a whole host of other things
Your mistress will get what it needs first before all other things. It must in order to provide for you and your family if you have one.
The Cummins N14 is an excellent engine parts are relatively cheap and Cummins dealers all over as well. Most independent garages work on them as well.
I brought all that up not to discourage, but often the starry eyed want to own my own truck doesn’t think of all the work that goes on behind the scenes.
your days off may not be spent with the family. Maybe you have a couple u joints to replace a carrier bearing truck needs an oil change. The list and scenarios are endless. So if your not willing and able to Commit 100% to the mistress then stay doing what your doing.jamespmack, Rideandrepair, Dino soar and 5 others Thank this. -

Honestly I am looking for the real talk like that^ i am a very proactive person and don't take most decisions lightly. I want all aspects and views of what has and can happen. There is an opportunity to do some car hauling for a small company near me (would be similar to a lease on type of thing) dont have full details yet. I dont see the point in reaching out to them if I can't float a truck and trailer without them then its a bit more of a risk than I'd like to take at this time. So getting as much info as I can for now.

If I wanted to just print money and never have any problems I'd just run hotshot like the people on YouTube making 200k/year with 10k start up costs haha

Also if you are married and have a family you need to be sure they are on board with what your thinking. I will cut into family time even more and some spouses and kids are not ready to have the little home time you may or may not have now be prepared to have it cut in half.Jarhed1964, Rideandrepair, Coffey and 1 other person Thank this. -
Nope single at the moment. Don't have much of a social life as is. Run local 10-12hrs 5 days a week. Should do about 80k this year, im not complaining at all.

You know if you go in to Denny’s and order a cup of coffee and “toss” them some eggs and bacon with a couple slices of bread you pretty much eat breakfast for the price of a cup of coffee.Jarhed1964 and Rideandrepair Thank this.
