Trying to help my dad

Isn't USA Truck an over the road company? With your dad's experience and track record he'll get any driving job he wants.

 

Problem with moving on. Is starting at the bottom of the pay scale also.

Everyone is probably taking a cut in pay. Rates are down in teh toilets. My bro in law has lost $100 per load of crude oil over the last 12 months. In increments. He's down from $375 per load a day to $275 per load a day.

Since fuel is cheap today compared to last year. And pipe is no longer being hauled. All those pipe haulers are cutting in to everyone else's loads. Compound with the price of fuel and everyone is undercutting everyone.

The economy may be looking good but trucking ISN'T.

 

OK, now his situation is more clear. My bet is he'll stick with USA Truck since he's making $65K with out being a trainer. That's a big pay cut, but still he's making more than most drivers.

 

Walmart?

 

I"m guessing walmart isn't working out too good either. I've never heard them advertise and this year they've been on the radio like crazy. Even doing local online ads.

Craigslist isn't exactly online local. And it's not the only job board in town.

 

I did not know it was even possible to make $65k let alone $90k a year at a company like USA Truck. That will be a tall order to fill. He might just have to "settle" for the money he's currently making at USA and retire in peace in a few years rather than starting at the bottom somewhere else.
