I so agree with Iron Pony and Seebs. Even though in my husbands case he was going back to get his CDL again, if we had known (done better research) about Prime's CDL course we would have done that.

I'll also attest to the PSD program. Unlike an outside CDL school, you will gain real-life experience. Not just with the driving, bit the life. Plus you get a 10,000 mile credit for goin through it

I'm one of those guys who obsesses over simple-seeming decisions. I've narrowed a list of six starter companies down to two. Both are very strong competitors for very different reasons and because I don't want to switch companies after a year or two, choosing one of them has proven to be quite the challenge. There are very few "bad" things and lots of "good" things.

What's most important to you? I don't know about any other company, but I like Prime so far
-
That's always the trick, isn't it? Finding out what's most important to me.
-
Ya... just got to figure that out n what company covers it
-
what are the 2 companies on ur list? -
Prime and Swift. And because someone will ask, let me anticipate by giving you the strong points and weaknesses I find in both of them. Here goes.
Prime: Great training. Great starting pay. Very few whiners on TTR. Nice equipment. Nationwide service, including my little outpost here in Western Michigan. Lower cost CDL training if I don't make the full year (which is highly unlikely in any case.)
Swift: Great training. Very responsive recruiter. Good, but lower pay. The big dog in the pound. Many opportunities nationwide. Many divisions giving me the chance to move into a different kind of operation if I want. Big also means the likelihood of getting lost or forgotten or having to wait longer if a truck isn't available. Equidistant between two big Swift terminals. THere is a terminal in the city of my children, Oklahoma City.
There are probably other important factors that I've forgotten to put down and there is no single factor in all of them that is "most important." I'm not money-driven or size-averse, so I keep reading TTR and other sources of information to make the decision.Nycmex77 Thanks this. -
Someone should mention that we do have a dedicated account in, what I would at least call, western Michigan. Going from there to TN and back.

Yeah, there is that, too. And Awesome Driving Instructors!
