I wish we could haul it into the shop, the boss says "we'll have it looked at, but I need you to go here......" and we're off again. Next time we're sitting 5 hours for a load I'll pop off the intake and do the movement check.

Its an 07 if that helps. 650k miles on the old girl. Like I said though, its random, sometimes it is fine, other times it puffs and coughs like a 30 year smoker. There IS black smoke when it does it though.

Also, is it normal for a truck to suck down a gallon of oil every 2500 miles or so? No leaking it, its just *poof* gone. I'd swear its burning it, and needs an overhaul...but try getting that past the boss, especially when he's just sold off 3 day cabs to pay the costs on his 4 sleepers.

Welcome to the wonderful world of egr and detriot. I drive an 04 60 series that does the same thing usually at 1400 and less rpm. Its most likely your egr valve, v-pod, or delta pressure sensor. If you know someone with a computer for the detroits have it programmed so the egr only works at 1000-1200. Makes it better than what they are stock

check the blowby from the tube-----could be pushing some oil there
2500per gallon ----well that is getting up there a bit--mine was maybe a gallon per 8k miles--but the miles were a bit less--cant say i am a real fan of any egr engines

Truck in the shop, they can't find a problem with the turbo or the oil consumption. They DID however fix the shimmy we picked up on the last run to NM. Turned out to be the camber. Got a 3 axle alignment, and camber adjustment. Hopefully we'll get the turbo issue and oil use issues figured out soon. Although the turbo issue seems to have died down a bit, only seems to do it now when we idle for too long, after a run.

Thanks for all the tips though, I brought a lot of them up with the shop and they looked into them all.
