Torque is limited with ECM, boost pressure is limited with overboos valve. If you increase boost pressure ECM will not inject more fuel ECM is programmed for. I'm not sure about select ECM, but later ECMs may store overboost code.

About max hp..... to be sure analize your CPL, are your pistons designed for more power? It may be like with early Volvo D12 engines. 320-340-380 HP engines were with aluminium pistons and ECM tuning to 420-460 HP requires other pistons, else they may be melt

the M11 at 400 Hp is the highest hp rating they came with.

Thanks Pabl-Au, im going to establish cummins psi setting and not increase, the turbotech works by keeping the gate 100% closed until pre-set PSI boost is acheived, this means more PSI lower in RPM range but max PSI will stay the same. Pistons are steel top and aluminium Skirt. thanks for the info on boost pressure limited with valve and ECM will not inject more fuel ECM is programmed for. great info thanks

    One hypotesa why not more...

To increase HP rating we can increase engine speed ore torque. Usually tuners increase torque, bu to inject and burn more fuel engine needs more air, so tuners let turbine build more boost pressure (sometimes other turbine required), but temperature in combustian chamber rises up and engine produces more NOx and that's why w/o EGR ore SCR it is impossible to make more powerfull engine compatible with not new, old NOx emission limits.

Thanks Pablo, I dont really need more HP im happy with 400HP, im more interested in improving the torque curve to get more torque lower in the RPM range. with my diesel 4WD the turbotech increased torque lower in RPM range and improved pulling power, standard the boost started at about 1400RPM and with the turbotech it starts at 800 RPM. Im hopeing that i get simular improvements on my M11 without increasing max PSI, but if i need to increase max psi a bit then i will. I think that increasing max PSI should only improve performance high in the RPM range?

My advice... do not floor gas at low engine speed for too long time. At low engine speed lubrication system may not give enought oil to cool pistons and water flow is not like at 1400 rpm and local overheating may shorter piston life ore may cause valves thermal damage.

    AUSSIE DAVE Thanks this.

very good points, I think my oil pressure is max at about 1200RPM or a bit less, I will keep this in mind and watch PYRO thanks :biggrin_25525:

Dave, sounds like you only have a gate valve there..

    Look up Gated boost controlers.

i made one for my VL for $10

just checked them out, there are the same thing as i got, the one i have is made by the guy that designed and made the very original one, all others on the market are copies of his design. he is a engineer in Australia and makes them in his workshop at his house, he has sold thousands of them over many years to a lot of car clubs, like drifters and race cars. Im keen (as is he) to get it installed and just see if it will work and be benifitial on a truck. He can see (on paper) that there is no reason it will not work, and wants to test it in the real world and thats the reason he gave me one for free, to test it for him and pass on the results, so im going to be very neutral in my disission/findings and only give him information based on facts and findings. will keep you posted
