I'm deciding between 3 trucks and 2 don't have the full aero package (top of cab fairing) . I'll be pulling a 53' van so I know the mpg will be better on the areo body but if I add a wing to the 9400, how much will I lose MPG's from the full aero style ?? I know there are variables, but the main question is drag.

A "wing"? Like a cattle truck wing? If so I think you're actually going to be better off withOUT the wing.

with the wing you would prob come out the same for mpg. slightly decreased sleeper weight but it depends on what your comfortable with for sleeper room and overall condition of truck

Put a turbo wing on my w9 with 72inch aero sleeper,gave me .25 mpg increase.I pull 53' van.Avg fuel mileage 6.47 for the yr.

Thats great MPG for a W9 .. If I can average that with a International 9400, I will be happy. I actually like the truck without the big aero fairing on top but I know it helps ..especially pulling a van. I'm hoping to hear the difference between the truck with the aero top and the one with the aero wing is minimal.

I know someone that had a 379 with the fiberglass fairing on top of the sleeper and cab for the factory and took that off and did a turbo wing cause he liked the look of it better and lost .2 mpg. I just put one on my truck but also did some computer tuning and my mpg stayed the same so I guess to wing offset the additional HP's

This is the post I was hoping for. If there is a BIG difference (like 1 MPG) then I would have to consider only the trucks with the fiberglass fairing on top but now I can consider the trucks without the fairing and look for a "wing". Was he pulling a van (box) ??

Last week in a truck wash in GA I spoke with a driver with the same truck as mine, a 379 Pete with 63 inch mid roof sleeper CAT engine, 13 speed and 3:36 gears on 22.5 LPs pulling a 53 ft van, and he said he gained 8/10ths when he put on the wing.... that sounds like a lot to me.... but at 2.50 a gallon even if you gained only 2/10ths it would return the investment in 6 months or a little less. If he is exaggerating by 50% the ROI is 3 months.

I'm buying a truck and it will either be the aero fairing (top) or will have a wing. Just want to be sure they both will do the job equally or close at least.
