Canceling the turn signal is just a matter of proper procedure and consistancy. Since most drivers, of cars or trucks, have been driving something since they were 16 these people drive like it's a distraction they do during all the other things they do while in the vehicle.
Think of a turn as a whole series of actions that always follow each other in the proper order and the turn isn't complete until you have done all of them. My procedure is to keep my left hand on the wheel, either gripping the wheel or pushing/pulling the wheel whith the heel of my hand until the turn is complete. As I start to straighten the truck after the turn I just drop my fingers and sweep them across the turn signal lever to cancel them.
The main thing is to do the same thing every time and decide what you willl do rather than the more common "just make it up as you go along." This is the big key how airlines and pilot do a very dangerou job with a much, much higher level of safety. They don't "just wing it."davetiow Thanks this. -
If your an O/O or lease driver- it would not be that hard to hook a small buzzer or other signaling device to the positive side of T/S
wiring telling you that flasher is working.....Many,many,,,,many moons ago in my wrenching days i hooked alot of this type of devise to a couple of my harder hearing customers who claimed that they could'nt HEAR
the flasher unit clicking. When i got done they were able to HEAR the flasher unit clicking and so could anyone within 30 ft of the car....
