You can take your car, TMC will give you $100 to drive your car there and back. For the return trip the people who rode the bus get a rental car and TMC reimburses for the fuel, but you won't get any fuel reimbursement if you drive your own car.

That should be a decent area for TMC. We do haul a fair amount of drywall out of Buchannan NY but it diesn't pay as well as some loads. After you get some experience with TMC you may be able to get on the dedicated division at Buchanan and be home more often.

wow great post you guys. I have been thinking of maverick or roehl or tmc but i think tmc might be the way to go. I have been trucking for many years but not too much flatbed so i was wondering how they handle that with orentation and if you go out with a trainer and for how long since i am otr exp. Thanks again for all the good info on this thread it is nice to see good info and not a bunch of babys crying. Be safe and keep it between the ditches. :biggrin_25515:

    Bangngrs,

To answer your question, you will only have 1 week of orientation and then without any flatbed experience you will go out with a trainer for 4 weeks. At least thats the way it was when I trained an experienced guy with no flatbed experience. That was about a year and a half ago so it might be a week shorter but the recruiter should be able to tell you.

    Frat,

Yea.....can't believe you guys guessed the pic....lol. Yea i left that friday and was assigned to be with my trainer this last week. The first week of OTR training was great. I was assigned a great trainer that know exactly how to train. Anyway we delivered 4 loads from canada to missouri. I did most of the driving and securement, he just helped and watched.

As for the guess....I just looked at your age and it was quite easy... :)

Thanks for the update, good to hear things are going good for you there. I think its all about attitude, have a good one and you will be fine. Every job has its certain amount of #### to deal with, some are better at handling it.

I will call them Monday, to process my application, hopeful they will hire me on and hopefully I am up to snuff to make it.

Any idea on average pay weekly or yearly? I know training pay is only $300/350.

I am looking forward to joining this tmc family i think it will be a good move even if the freight is slow till jan/feb. It will all work out in the long run. Be safe everyone and get home to the family for thanksgiving....:biggrin_25525:
