Congrats Bangngears and all who are starting soon.

Actually the rule about staying off the grass serves two purposes. First by observing how well you follow simple rules. Since TMC is going to sent you out into the world with a lot of expensive equipment they want to make sure you will follow directions while you are being watched, since they can't watch everything you do out there. Second by sending home people who walk on the grass in Iowa they demonstrate that they aren't kidding around about the rules and the consequences.

There is a lesson in everything that TMC does, it isn't all for show. :biggrin_25525:

Rawlco, thanks for the information and your advice, your big help to us newbies.

I received a email from the recruiter a week and a half ago saying if I was interested still to call and they will start processing my application, and I called him on Monday and left a message on his voice mail saying I am intrested and they could process my application, didn't hear anything so I waited till Wednesday and called again and got voice mail but didn't leave a message. I figure since Thanksgiving week he might have left early or something. I will call agin Monday and see if I can get him. I won't call everyday and I won't leave a message everytime either, and I'll give it another week, if nothing then I guess I will move on.

    Thanks for your appreciation.

Keep trying the recruiter. Don't leave a voicemail but try several times during the day to get a live person to answer your questions. Show them that you want this job and you won't let a small issue stand in your way. On the road you will need to work through your issues and get the job done, so prove that you have the determination to make things work. Never give up.

Hey Rawlco, just wanted to let you know that they do not pay trainees who have to wait a week for a trainer anymore. They said they used too, like you stated, but as of now they stopped doing that. I had to wait a week in between orientation and getting in the truck with my trainer at the begining of this month and did not get paid the $350.

Also, like to thank you again for all the info you post on this board.....its priceless! :biggrin_25525:

I'm just like you Rebel, in my third week with a trainer.

Approx 3500 miles driven. Lots of snow experience thus far...

We have had a slow frieght issue as well, its the season and that time of year.

Have a good week... Be Safe!

I finally got thru to my recruiter, they been having problems with their phones as it was cutting out a lot. He said everything looks good and they will process my application. He asked if I could come in on Dec, 8th I said no problem. Not sure where yet, he gave me choice Iowa or SC. He said SC would be warmer, but I told him I don't mind the cold so either would be fine, I think we are leaning towards Iowa, he will let me know for sure Wednesday.

Any preference or differences between SC or Iowa orientations?

Again thanks for your help and support

Good Luck FirNaTine, from a fellow South Jersey Guy.

I went to S.C. for Orientation due to it being 4 hours or so closer then Iowa. Also I rented a car , the bus ride to S.C. said around 21 hours and around 26 to Iowa. Thats a long time on a bus!! TMC paid me $125 towards the rental, I had to cover the rest....

Again Good Luck to you! :biggrin_25525:

Hey Rawlco I got a ?? for you. I've been pulling flats, drop decks, and double drops for right at two years now (my whole career). I've never wanted to go OTR yet but plan on it in the future. I run the lower half and am home just about every night. But like I was saying in the future I want to go OTR and will most likely want to go with TMC.

What I am asking is with my expirence how much orientation and training will I have to go through??
