You are correct in what the different times are but he is also correct in that going from west to east loses three hours. But going from east to west gains three hours.

When you calculate your needed time you do so based on your current locations time for ease but then you must add or subtract from the calculated time allotment based on the destinations time zone.

 

Dispatch won’t be as mad as the Safety Manager would be when you’re camped out at the coop with a big HOS Violation.
