Well there are exceptions in great drivers out there, like I said, and wouldn't claim to be the best at following or breaking rules, written or unwritten (especially when I have to split the difference to keep others from breaking theirs on my behalf). Not that I have any history of losing it literally, clearly this is of little value on job apps, even though I realize that 10 more years of this wouldn't make me a much better driver, it could only reflect more of the same, at best. I'd rather my turnover be figurative.

Think of the trucking industry as a big buffet restaurant... new diners (drivers) are drawn into the restaurant because of all the pictures of yummy food and all on the outside... (recruitment)

Once inside they are greated (orientation) and taken to a table (truck)

A waitress (trainer) brings them something to drink, water, coffee, whatever and some breadsticks (training pay)

Well, at this point some diners are satisfied. . Some got a bad waitress and arent, and for others the drink a breadsticks are nog enough to fill them because they came in starved...

So, some leave the resurant right then... while others stay..

Of the diners (drivers) who stay... some just sit at the table while another waitress (dispatch) comes arou d and keeps giving them bread sticks and fill their drinks...

At this point some leave and look for a different restaurant where they start all over again.. drawn in by recruitment, greeted by a hostess (orientation) and taken to a table..

Those who stayed.. start looking around the restaurant... some see the salad bar ( becoming a trainer) to add to the bread sticks... some see the buffet of various meats, vegetables, potatoes, and such..(dedicated, regional accounts) and some even fi d the dessert bar..

Just like at buffets some diner fill their plate and go for seconds and some just grab a little..

Trucking is what you make it... and it isn't just handed to you... like at a buffet. . You have to get off your ### and go get it... go fill your plate...

Consider also.. if you stood out side that buffet and asked those coming out about it.. those who never found the salad bar, or the buffet of meat and dessert bar.. would tell not to waste your time.. those who only found the salad bar would say it is only worth it if you eat salad with the bread sticks... those who figured out it was a buffet would tell you... yeah as long as you go get what you want and dont just expect it to be delivered to your table..
