I have a USB TV tuner. It connects to my antennas in my Volvo.
I got mine at a BestBuy.

It takes 5-20 minutes to scan for channels, and then you are good to go.

Reception can be spotty. A truck rolling by will interrupt the signal. That happens a lot.

they generally come with an antannae. but as moosetek says. reception can be a real PITA. not that actual tv's are any better.

thanks to our beloved digital signals we have to deal with now.

Yeah I miss old analog signals, channel being fuzzy? move the rabbit ears a little......I put a tv in my truck last year and only used it maybe 2 times in the 3 months I had it in my truck, half the time I could not get decent english channels or the picture would just freeze up. I just download all my shows and movies each week when I go home then watch them on my laptop during my work week. Works great for all those cable shows I cant get otherwise.

What about downloading torrents? I've been downloading for at least 5 years. I haven't had netflix, cable, or satellite for at least 5-6 years now. All tv shows / movies available. No commercials. Seems like it should work while driving if you can get decent internet once in a while to get the downloads - then watch when you feel like it. Takes up less space, as everything is one your laptop or external hard drive. No boxes or discs to keep track of, just digital files.

    Thought I'd mention it.

snowwy your laptop doesnt have an hdmi out?

I get all my stuff with torrents, been using torrents since like 2001 but I only use private sites to get my content not piratebay like some do. I also do not pay for cable at home even though my wife complains she wants it but when I was paying for it in the past she would watch 2 channels all day so I told her to just download those shows, I do pay for netflix for her and my kids but I never have used it in the last couple years even though I have unlimited data.
