I got mad and did away with dish several years back. Just have an antenna on the roof with the converter boxes. The only channels that I lost was 3 channel 12's. Will have to rescan the box for them and see if we picked up any more channels.

I got rid of cable a few years back and went to an antenna. With digital, we just went from 11 channels, five of which were reasonably clear to 24 channels (if I include the subchannels) 14 of which are entertainment, five worship, five kids and spanish. So we really went from about 7 entertainment channels to 14, although all 24 are clear as a bell.
    It's like we got cable.
HOWEVER: I had to put a 12db amplifier inline to get the cheapa$$ Magnavox converter my wife bought at Wallyworld to see signals at all. It only got 2 channels before that.
DON"T BUY AT WALMART. Their electronics stink, and the two boxes they sell are the LOWEST rated on reviews from sites like dtvboxanswers.com
If you have one, DON'T put it in pass-thru mode or it will stay there and lose the digital (not being able to put up the setup screen) and you'll need an amplifier on the antenna. But that may be a good idea anyway.
I can't believe I just watched a japanese game show on air! Sick.
