yeah think about it, 130 bucks for it and about the same price for hazmat. thats alot of money going somewhere once all these drivers apply. i heard only a small % of drivers have it so far though. also heard 3rd party companies would go in the port and load your load if you dont have the card for a couple hundred bucks and then bring the load out to you. its all about the dollar

Well actually there is a purpose. Al Qaeda hasn't died, they've just moved to a cave. The old Soviet Union died and left a bunch of nukes lying around, and Pakistan could loose control of their nukes at any time. Now these clowns couldn't manage to shoot one at us on a ICBM, but they could float one up the East River in a container. TWIC is an attempt to make something like this very difficult. Maybe you've let it go... I don't think Bin Laden has. Now this is all kind of out there, but think about it. 911 was a major economic dislocation for the entire country. So much of the financial world is based out of very concentrated areas like lower Manhattan, London or Mumbai. You take out or just make uninhabitable any one of these areas, and you've got a major world financial disaster.

noticed a job listing today of a trucking company trying to hire drivers that had their card. how do the 3rd party companies that load your load for you for a small fee if you dont have your card, screen the drivers and company.

Screen the drivers and companies that they contract to for their services? I'd be willing to wager that they don't do any screening at all. They go in, get the load and drop, or vice versa. Probably don't care what's in the trailer at all.

I"d also be willing to bet that TSA hasn't thought this through either! :biggrin_25518:
