It lets me deliver into a couple of refineries without an escort, thus saving me time ,grief and aggravation. Besides the company pays, I'm just out the time to renew

Am gonna let mine expire in a few years. Complete waste of time and money. New cars coming in thru the port pay absolutely nothing. Those going out overseas are usually payed by billing the broker. Good luck with that since the car has left the country

Could you see a carrier in Ontario Canada asking a driver to get a TWIC? I could get one since I'm a dual citizen but would it give me an edge in an interview for my first job? Back on the first page of the thread I saw a post from a driver in Ontario that said he used it when he had loads out of the NJ/PA ports. I guess it depends on the company I eventually go with but as another driver said " When you need it, it's to late to get it!"

Yes but if you're at a company that only rarely goes into these places, they are generally a "no TWIC required" company and as such won't do loads where there won't be an escort readily available. At these carriers, it's hard to justify the hassle and expense if you have to travel a long way and schedule far in advance [like I do] to do all that's required, only to maybe be able to use it once a year, and even then it wasn't absolutely necessary.
I never did renew mine because of having to go through all the same original hassle as for the original. Also, was at a company where I might only be able to use it once every 12-18 months at a place that provides free escortsPhenomenal Thanks this. -
I got mine. Glad I did. It has been a blessing. Works great jammed between the pass door and dash to stop that rattle.
xsetra, Phenomenal and Mattflat362 Thank this. -
I just started driving. Finished training this week. Already used my TWIC 3 times.

Where? Are you Ontario Canada based?

North Carolina

Why not? I had one when I used to load out of Dundalk a lot but that was before rates went in the crapper a few years ago. It has since expired and I didn’t renew. Seems like Lanstar is brokering all the fright of of there now and those liars suck

I've started to use my TWIC card as ID when a customer asks to see my license for paperwork
