Virginia port at Portsmouth. Requires pin. I didn't have it, they took mug shot and finger prints to verify my twic
My twic renewed card, I received pin in mail and just keep it in wallet with twic.

Baltimore is similar. No extra ID, just that your truck needs to be registered with Emodal.

Besides ports, only 1 air force base in Fla and a Naval air base ever asked to see myTWIC. Army, National Guard and Marine bases seem to be a lot more lax and just run your ID.

I guess as long as your not on any terrorist watch lists, you'll be ok.

Marathon rack in Louisville on Algonquin. Another guy was only 30 minutes behind him so it wasn't that big of a deal. There are many times we wouldn't have someone else down there though since that's not our normal running area.

Ft. Knox is the only one that ever wanted it for me and they just recently stopped.

I've had a TWIC since they first started with the exception of a few ports (Newark and Ft. Lauderdale) I can count on one hand how ma y times I have used it.
I haul fuel to some air force bases they quit accepting them a couple of years ago. To much fraud.
The whole thing is a scam, my hazmat endorsement is the same thing as the TWIC.

I don't have TWIC but once got sent to Port of Philadelphia where it was required. Didn't know that until I got there. They let me in if I paid $50 for an escort. This "escort" literally had me follow him about 100 yards, he pointed to where I was loading and then left me alone the remaining 3 hours that it took me to load and tarp. Yeah, it is a money scam.

Panama City requires their own Id, and GA ports gives you like 6 free visits then you need port ID. Never asked for pin.

Be GLAD he left you alone. Those TWIC escorts charge by the hour. 61 minutes and you owe another $50.

Also be glad that port security didn't see that. It would have been a problem for you, and likely they would revoke the escorts privileges. That escort is supposed to be on you like white on rice AT ALL TIMES while your within the port and there are supposed to be NO exceptions.

the PIN is used when the TWIC gets linked to an existing ID card system, like SEA-LINK at the NY/NJ port authority or any other pre-existing flash pass system at other seaports. Sea-Link uses it every time they re-new the Sea-Link card. The day the TWIC expires they shut down the Sea-Link access to the marine terminals until you bring in the new TWIC an using your PIN link the two together again.

    HaulinCars and HalpinUout Thank this.

We haul a lot of machinery for export to the Oakland and San Francisco docks.
Sometimes they ask for the card, sometimes they don't.
If they ask for it and you don't have it the delay is usually at least a couple of hours.
