I've been looking at that too but I haven't found one to suit me yet and if I build one i'de probably go thru it clear to the frame and I'm not sure how the insurance company would feel about insuring a truck that age for 120 thousand because it would probably cost about that by the time it was done

Yeah, when an acert turbo goes, it usually tears the other one up too depending on the failure. To replace both turbos is around 4 to 5k roughly.

My Truck is 2001 Classic with early 2000 build date and Nov 1999 Detroit 12.7. Got Level 1 and a level 3 10 days later. Scale told me to bring in my log book. Seems he knew I was using Paper. Been waiting for it so now I know. Something tells me I’m being Targeted from here on. Time will tell. Don’t like being treated like a Criminal. Seriously looking for new Business after Trucking most of my life 33 of 38 yrs since age 16. However my advice for what it’s worth is sell Truck and buy older Truck already set up the way you want.Something nice that will only increase in price with age.

    Oxbow and snowman_w900 Thank this.

Hey guys I know this is a little older post.... but I went though a level 1 yesterday and we got to talking about the eld..... I was informed that as of December of this year(2019) it won’t matter what year your truck is because they are gonna all require eld.... he told me you could ready about it on FMSA web site...... paper logs are a thing of the past!

Why? Replace turbo, get a tune, and be better off with more usable power than any single will support.

So many people bad mouth the compounds on an acert when the factory programming is the issue, to single properly you have to tune, so the gains everyone thinks they get from the single were actually from the program.

Yeah, I m leaning to keeping the twins. Just shave the pistons delete the vva programing and delete the precooler and you will have a mean engine. If your creative enough get a print shop to make an engine sticker up for a pre-2000 engine and have the program file show it as a pre-2000 engine.

    SAR and Oxbow Thank this.

Send the pistons to Robs and have them bowl matched to the 16:1, much better than taking material off of the crown.

    SAR Thanks this.
