i have two different antenna's on a splitter coax.... a wilson 1000 and one of those Heilcoil Steel Whips (don't know the specific brand or name).... one of the washers are rusted to hell so i couldn't take off the coax to run my own so i just used the factory coax... my question is am i hurting the radio and/or my reception by using this set up?? i've been talking on it and guys says it sound great.... the cb is a peaked and tuned cobra 25 nightwatch...

I am no expert but if it were my system I would get a meter and check your SWR. That is the only way to know if you are hurting your radio. If your SWR checks out ok and you are happy with it and it works for you I say run it.

I`v always had more luck and a better sounding radio with one antenna.

cant figure the "washer" coax part but if it aint broke dont mess with it.

You can definitely use two different CB antennas on a "co-phase" setup as long as they are both "50 Ohm" type, you know the regular kind of CB antenna, and are tuned properly. Your pattern might be a bit weird but not so anyone would notice.
If there's rust and this is old, at least seal up the coax connectors at the mounts against water getting into the coax with a few wraps of self-vulcanizing tape to prevent more degradation if you plan on keeping this together a while.
By washers, maybe the lockwasher or flat washer between the ant. and the mount?
