I'd point them to the prime website and tell them to get their beans together. The pet policy is listed under benefits for company drivers.

If it's advertised at the time I sign on then it's something I would expect.

I hope you realize you'll be learning and training for at least a coupla months before you're turned loose, and you'll probably have to wait for your wife to catch up as female trainers are scarce...so it could be several months before you're together out on the road.

I wouldn't consider a pet until I had at least a year under my belt.
Too stressed and busy minding myself, my loads, the roads and the rig to have to manage a pet too.

I think Con-Way Truck Load allows a team to each have a small dog. However you will not be able to take them while training. You would have to wait till you are in your own truck. I don't know of any company that will allow you to bring a pet while in training. Not saying there aren't any.

I know this sounds harsh but unless you own the truck personally, then pets should not be allowed at all. Our company allows drivers to bring dogs also but the problem is when the truck is sitting and has to be borrowed out to another driver for a day then that driver has to deal with all the left behind issues that were created by the pet. I personally spent an evening rolling up fur balls bigger then my hand and tossing them out. It was disgusting. The boss borrowed "my" truck out to someone with a dog one day and the dang thing pissed on the bunk. I was in another truck were a dog tried to make a meal out of the passenger door armrest and it stunk like dog piss also.

I also hate dogs running loose at the truck stops. Dang near ran one over one evening when rolling into a TS in Nebraska. Not that I don't like dogs. I have my own dog at home, a minature long hair weiner dog. LOL can spell this morning. The wife has a Minpin. They don't go in the truck. Not my truck so I won't bring them.

In my opinion as long as a company or owner of a truck allows a driver to have a pet and the drivers held accountable for any damage their pet does or clean up fees that's fine. Werner and the guy I drive for now both advised me that I would have to pay for any damage or clean up fees due to my pet if I were to turn in a filthy truck. I have a long haired dachshund myself and if I don't use a deshedder on him he sheds quite a bit. Every 2 weeks I go through his seat to get any access hair. Most people I know that have pets are neat freaks. I know I am.

In the military you learn the phrase, "It is easier to get forgiveness then it is to get permission."

What is a company? It is just a bunch of people. Rarely do you meet anyone who actually makes the policy. As a couple team you are in demand. One dog or two dogs doesn't seem to be much difference. Dogs shed their hair and it gets into everything. Personally, I am fine with that as I love my beagle. But if you ask someone at the company, they are most likely going to say no. Saying no is easier then saying yes. So, don't ask them. Assume that whoever made the policy understands that two little dogs is not a pack of wild animals roaming the streets. Anyone questions it, tell them I said it was okay and if they have a problem with it, take it up with me.
