Never used this for more then a quick mile or two except a truck recovery but just log out.

If i was sitting at a yard for a while (almost every day) I just ran over to the loves off book so to speak. (could see the sign from the yard) not really all that usefull but if you just want a way to roam around a tiny bit, it works to keep hours off.

You could have done that logged in, just log it as personal conveyance. All legal like.

Not all companies have the pc option set up in their logging system. If they don't, then the log is going to auto trip over to driving after a set amount of miles or certain speed reached.

Every driver that cheats drives the wages down for other drivers. Plus, the more you cheat the more expensive the equipment we have to buy to prevent us from cheating. Logs are to protect you from be worked to death. Work smart but if you need more money, ask for a raise. Don't work longer hours for such little money.

I don't mind elogs, I'm healthier now and I don't feel abject terror when a scale house tells me to pull around back. I just wish I could split break, Schneider doesn't allow us to.

Get the manual for your ternimal QC, There used to be a 8 or 12 digit number displayed on one of the screens when someone is utilizing the system to track you actively in real time. Im referring to the factory manual, not the cliff notes drivers get.

As far as being creative with Elogs, it's impossible.

Your energies will be better profibitable and spent learning to maximize your revenue rather than cheating the elog. Believe you me Im a old master of the paper system, the elogs have no such work around.

Hmmm... this gives me an idea...

You know how trains have more than one engine? Well how about the same deal for trucks? When you run out of hours in the first truck, you jump in the second one back and go some more.

Of course there will be one trailer with a dedicated makeup artist to change your appearance. And a machine that will make a new ID for you on the fly... oh, and a secret cocaine dispenser in the cb microphone so you can stay awake for three weeks straight.

I'm also thinking an upgrade option would include a Hellfire missile battery, to blast your way through the DOT.

    Yep, I think it'll work.

If you allow Aussie road trains in the USA on dedicated highways clear of all other traffic you can have a single or team control 10 truck loads at once.

There are whole trains on 5 land bridge routes across the USA racing hundreds to thousands of containers west coast to east coast to go to Europe. Those are not being hauled by long haul truckers. That is a loss.

The idea a company has to sink 150K in a new truck tractor and another 40K into a trailer to retain labor is hogwash. Old Iron with airride, and adequate heating, cooling is very suitable for trucking and you might get 50 years service out of the tractor with good maintaince. It's the young driver who has become the so called buttercup. (I wonder how long before that word is censored along with all the rest....)

Now I will say that the companies have to dredge through hundreds of unsuitable unwashed applicants to find the few dozen good clean ones to put on the road. That is a expense.

The schools are not helping either. Drivers are taught just enough to pass a road test by the state for the CDL. Then discover a dispatcher willing to run em into the ground in 90 days with live loading and constant overnight live unload deliveries due sunrise every morning. Not everyone can do that.

The companies have and will probably be fenced in by Elogs in time when paper is finally outlawed. I think the industry brought that on themselves. The excuse that the elog is in the tractor to protect the driver is hogwash. It's the dispatchers you need to ride. Not the drivers, they don't know anything about trip planning and should be trained. To me personally the entire USA is divided into blocks of 500 miles or so and I can tell you if I will make appointment or not anywhere in a few moments. No newbie can be expected to know this kind of stuff unless someone teaches them.

I can go on. But the industry as it stands, bringing in Arab immigrants to man the truck at .20 a mile (Because they know nothing....) or buying half million dollar OTTOs plus a few IT techs to babysit them... it's a mess. I am glad I got out while the getting was good.

Two different jobs, two different e-log systems and different id's. Or a second non-driving job. How's that supposed to work?

I asked that question about paper logs. Drive company A in the morning, company B in the afternoon. The dot said to run 1 log, and denote when I switched. Company info up top for both.

But you're right......do you unplug the e-log and take it with you? Is that next, driver owned e-logs?
