Close.
That is a 1978 F250 4X2, 400 with an NP435 4 speed. Dana 60 rear. It was/is so I ugly I called it the Chick Magnet. It was a C6 when I bought it, I bought a parts truck, rebuilt the NP435 myself and swapped everything out to make it standard. Paid $400 for the Chick Magnet, and $250 for the parts truck.
It knocked so bad you could hear it 3 blocks away. It used a liter of 15w40 every 50 miles. No exaggeration. I'd pull in to a gas station to fill up the oil and check the gas level.
Replacement truck is a 1978 F250 4x4. 351M, np435, np205. Came with a Dana 44 front, Dana 60 rear. Currently has a Dana 60 front, with a Dana 70 rear in the shop waiting to go in. Paid $800 for the Redheaded Stepchild. -
I used to carry clean spark plugs and a ratchet in the green truck. I'd be driving along and it'd start to run rough, pull over, change out #4 and #8 plugs and keep on rockin'. They'd foul so bad you couldn't see the electrode anymore. I'd put the plugs in a spare cylinder head and clean the carbon off with a torch and throw them back in the rotation.
I still miss that truck.
RIP my friend

They clearly stated he was over the 14he Mark..which clearly is a violation...why is it so hard for you to see it??...oh is it because you do it habitually and think it's ok too...by all your post you sit here and think rules don't apply to you...your kind is what is ruining this industry with all the New regulations....

At this point I don't feel that finger pointing serves any good use. I think at some point all of us who have driven for more then a few years has drove tired. I know I have. What bothers me the most is the FMCSA is a bureaucracy. It is full of bureaucrats whom have to justify their existence. If a truckers farts they take notice of it. Before long truckers are going to be more like lab rats with things stuck up body orifices just to drive. Regulation is on us now. Outside of a general driver strike and work stoppage (not going to happen) I see no solution.
ramblingman and Chattduck Thank this. -
That's back in the days when Ford truck made its Ford Tough rep. Even the half tons were stout. Anyways, just realized that you are Canadian. So 99% of the fearmongering doesn't apply and wont ever apply.
Happy motoring. -
36 years for an accident? Wow, this is a perfect example of why trucking is not a good career choice.

He was in Violation of the HOS but he got put in prison for killing people due to his own incompetence. The logbook violation wasn't a factor. Just like in the example I posted where the legal driver got 3 years for killing 4 people. I already addressed all your other points multiple times you obviously aren't listening though so I won't waste any more of my time.
All I will say is you pick up a load of Cattle and move em 1500 miles. Take your 2 ten hour breaks and see how many are alive when you get there. -
36 months lol

I never blamed the Window licking freight haulers for bringing on more regulations. They're just a byproduct of the mega fleets crusade to warm their seats and take out all their competition. Trying to blame people with a Work ethic for bringing on further regulations is just as absurd as trying to blame the window lickers for further regulations. The regulations are a direct cause of the war between the megas and the Independents.7-UP Thanks this.
