Any idea if the Swift driver was fired? - Was he alone or still with a trainer?
..It was awesome that he stayed there and accepted responsibility. That seems to be the exception lately--

I can't imagine how he felt the moment that happened. Knowing most likely you injured someone else's truck and also will get fired for that...geez
I had a road test once with KLLM in PA. These idiots expected me to do a blindside back (right out of school, literally) and in between 2 dock parked rigs. I told the guy NO WAY. He told me if I didnt even attempt it, I would not pass their company road test eval. I still refused. Ripping someones' mirrors off (or worse) was not the way I was going to start out in this industry. Obviously I therefore failed. I was sent home. Yea, it hurt but I knew it was the right thing to do in my case. My school was weak on backing much less blindside jackknife backing..and I wasnt going to ruin
someone's property.

I was at a TA in Jersey with 2 other England drivers (shipper sent u away cause they couldnt find the stock in their warehouse and canceled the logistics order. So we went to the stop to eat and sleep). As I was getting down from the cab, I see a skinny, crack head looking black guy spotting a truck into a spot. The truck was backing blind side. The truck started getting closer to the truck on his blind side. My key was in my pocket and wouldnt be able to get it in the ignition quick enough to get the cb on abd warn him. The spotter waved him right into the other truck. Broke the headlight and ripped the fender off as well as breaking hi DOT bumper off his trailer. The spotter books it into the restaurant. Driver #1 gets out to see what he hit. Gets to the back of his truck just as driver #2 gets out to see wtf just happened. Was saying ome guy was spotting him but now he cant find him. Driver #2 wanted to beat him for blind side backing. I spotted the spotter looking out the window as I was walking past the two drivers. I pointed at him and said "The black man right there was spotting him and waved him right into you then took off." That made for an interesting dinner watching this big built ex marine (driver #2) chew out the spotter.
Saw another one at the Las Vegas TA. I was just starting my log book and saw a Swift truck come around the parking island. He saw no spots so he continued to the other side of the island to go back up to the front lot. He took his turn barely too sharp and landed his trailer on the hinges of a warner trailer. Ripped the Swift trailer open. I decided not to start my log just yet and watch the excitment unfold. -
i have no idea what this trainer was doing, but the rookie just destroyed the corner of the sleeper. I cant figure out why they didnt do a 180 in front of the scale instead of whatever the heck they were attempting to do.

If you only scale the front axle, then you're okay to drive.
FriedTater Thanks this. -
weighing the front axle lets you know how much you can eat at the buffet!
