So what did you tell your current employer. Did you give the two week notice? Did they accept it right there?
I told them I was offered a job at home (and accepted the offer), and that I would be happy to work another week or two, or clean the truck out and move on - the choice was up to them. The plan is for me to drive for a week and a half and then head back to the terminal to turn the truck in. I got a load an hour or two after that conversation.
Cool, I hope they get you back on time. Just be safe, seems like the guys about to get out or retire are the ones that get into sticky situations on their last day. My friends dad took a PTO day for his last day as a train conductor. It's almost superstition around the rail yards. Lol.
No need to. You're still on the books and still getting paid. Nothing is done in a bad way. My company does not believe in any type of DAC reporting because they know what can be unjust. There's still some people in power that came from the trucks.
You can try to have them fix DAC but Dac will side with company in the end. So I just told my employer what they did and we are all good! that was almost 3 years ago. The mega companies can and do Lie I'm just happy it all works out in the end.
Most of the low life companies have learned to get rid of unhappy drivers immediately. I tried to give notice to an outfit I contract drove for yrs ago. Told the lady I would hang in there till they found a replacement, no drama! She relieved me of duty right then and there, and warned me, I was to surrender my truck keys to yard foreman and was NOT to drive that truck anywhere! I agreed to that. About 2 weeks later they called me and asked where the truck was. I told them it was sitting in front of my house right where I was forbidden to drive it any further, lmao.
Yup. I was offered a sizable raise once when I put in notice years ago. I wasn't staying regardless, as I had other plans (nothing against the employer...that boss was a good guy)...but I appreciated the gesture.
Although that would be a good gesture, I would not stay with an employer who offered me a raise to stay. That's a reactive response, and I would rather be with a company that takes a proactive approach to keep its employees.
Proactive? What handcuffs? lol. If I have to give notice, a raise is the only thing that might change my mind. When they see my GMC leaving the yard with all my stuff in the back, that means NO DEAL! I dont do drama, I work to support my family and that is all.
