It can't hurt to give notice "IN WRITING". If they retaliate against you, then quit, on that basis.
Two week notice?

Sometimes they remember.
I know a few people who DO remember. They don't talk about SOB deafman until asked by a recruiter checking history. Oh HIM.. then heap bad words black list etc.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Got some advice from a veteran in the industry. He said that drivers are a dime a dozen. PROFESSIONAL drivers stand out to everyone and are hard to come by. Drivers "DO" blend in. Forgotten. Will carry that advice with me during my encroaching career. Look professional, act professional, communicate professionally. BE PROFESSIONAL. And not be the one jumping in and out of his truck, at the receiver, in his pajamas. Will pay dividends in the end.

Thull, ibcalm19, Just passing by and 3 others Thank this. -
No notice.
I don't care how good the company seems. It's all fun and games until someone wants to quit.
If you are solo clean truck out at hometimt then request load to yard.
Edit
But you are not solo evidently. Loltucker Thanks this. -
What's to stop them from running you all the way across the country possibly putting you in a situation where you have to abandon a truck away from a terminal, due to weather, poor planning, or breakdown, to make it to the orientation for your new job on time? Would they give you two weeks notice before they called you into a terminal 2,000 miles from home before terminating you? Exactly.

One of my driver's gave his notice last fall , I respected him for the three weeks he gave me, and he will always have a job here if he chooses to return. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is a man's word
NavigatorWife, Thull, classic_150 and 5 others Thank this. -
I gave Big Blue the two week courtesy heads-up.
Wasn't messed around at all - even got of the hook 3 days early.
Then again, while I was there I DID MY JOB.
Don't know what everybody's deal is with the 'cut and run' mindset but good luck having a stable relationship, anywhere, ever, with that attitude. -
A few years back I gave a driver 2 week notice! I told him it's just not working and he should look for another job! He stayed the full two weeks and thanked me for giving him the time to find another job,
NavigatorWife, Thull, classic_150 and 5 others Thank this. -
Yesterday as I had just gotten my assignment my FM yells at me as the door is closing 'I need to know when you're leaving!' - the terminal manager runs outside 'you're leaving?', panic on his face..... 'Uh... to do this job, yes.'.... 'Oh! Phew, good.'
Something to be said for 1) showing up 2) getting it done 3) going home - without drama between the points.
And to boot - I've only been with the outfit 6 weeks. I won't kid myself: I'm replacable. But I'm well aware, and i think others are as well, that my goal is to make whatever I touch better.... a bit of the Christ Complex, I think. (I've come to know the limits of my control... but I'll keep testing my influence.)
The only thing I've ever just 'quit' would be the ex wife.... and it took years of fruitless talking to get to that point.
Oh, and weed. I quit weed to drive a truck.... Still question that decision sometimes. Lol.CSDixon and Kenworth 4life Thank this.
