I specifically asked for routing to the home terminal - which was also where I picked up the truck to begin with.

I also paid my own way home... not sure what the general expectation is regarding that (?), but I didn't expect them to get me home, being that we'd just parted ways and all.

I don't know what all the fuss is all about. When I had a regular 9-5 job, I gave 2 weeks notice. This is out of respect for the company. I understood that the boss would need to hire/interview someone. Maybe get HR or some other managers involved. But this is trucking! These guys are hiring bus loads of guys every week. Did you not see the pop up ads on this website?

The only exception would be for a smaller outfit. I would be respectful and work with the boss for a smooth transition.

BTW- I quit Crete when I went for home time. The manager shook my hand and wished me well. They sent me a check for the week vacation owed to me. They also sent me a letter stating that I left on good terms and would be happy to hire me back if it didn't work out.
