When I first started driving, no amount of listening to anyone could help me more than actually driving. my neighbor who helped me greatly, told me just get in the truck & drive it. now this was after I had my c.d.l. after I knew how to drive to pass the test, just was not calm & comfortable. I would take truck only out late at night & just teach myself to listen to the engine, when to upshift, downshift, when not to. it takes time BEHIND THE WHEEL. no prep can take the place of hands on. we wish you the best. :biggrin_25519:

If you where smart you'd hit something really hard like a BMW and flunk out, then go back to school and learn to run a CNC machine.:biggrin_25519:

Oh well I guess your going to be a driver some things just can't be helped LOL. Your going to do great but your going to need to expand your vocabulary.

Alright, we probably don't need the speech police here. it is a truckers forum. we are hands on drivers, not interviewing for a teaching job. this country was built by skilled workers, not intellects. :yes2557:

And this is why we have the industry that we have. This notion that we're only drivers so we don't have to be educated beyond a 2nd grade level. What happened to wanting to better yourself? Not in this industry. Not on this forum. In this industry and even on this forum, the most ignorant among us are proud of their ignorance and show it off like a badge of honor. Its sad really. I really believe the predominance of ignorance among the drivers and the widespread acceptance of that ignorance is a big reason why so many of us have to put up with the substandard treatment, pay and working conditions that are so common in this industry. But that's a rant for another thread.

For the record, I generally don't call attention to the grammatical shortcomings of others on this or any other forum. But when I see a person rag on someone else about their vocabulary and make several basic grammar mistakes that an average 4th grader could identify while they're doing it, then yeah, I'm going to speak up about it. Sue me.

Woooo slow down buba, if you read this thread in it entirety you will see that my above post was about an expanded vocabulary of curse words, (it was intended to be funny). Further more with all the trouble I've had learning to read English I'm not one to seriously comment on some ones grammar.

I would like to thank you for pointing out my error, even though I have not yet had the opportunity to expand my education I still try to learn something new every day. Now I know the difference between your and you're.

So now can we get back to the original topic?

This topic appears to rear its ugly head in almost every thread. Anyways driving on the street has been an experience and I hate green lights as I never know when to up shift or prepare to down shift
