Sounds so far like Tyson is the way to go. The thing with Pride is that everyone seems to like it there. Though I did talk to a Tyson driver a couple years ago getting a trailer washout, and she loved it there.
The thing is, there are people who probably love Werner, but I wouldn't drive for them period. So Im just trying to figure out which one has the greener grass.

You will probably do a lot of regional multi stop type runs but if they can get those chickens loaded in a timely manner. I don't see why you wouldn't be making a killing over there. I heard they want you to park at the terminals even if you live hours away, but other then that. They have always been on my radar. They didn't have this set up when I applied years ago. You also won't find many companies who pay for Holidays. I work for JBS and we kind of have the same set up. Working for the private fleet has it perks my friend.
mje Thanks this. -

Providing that I am not wrong, I believe that the OTR drivers for Tyson Foods run all 48 states, but do not go into Canada.
Also, I believe that Tyson Foods trucks have automatic transmissions, not manual transmissions.Last edited: Apr 23, 2014

Providing that I am not wrong, the average pay of a Tyson Foods truck driver is $56,000 a year. Naturally, there will be drivers who earn much less than that. From my understanding, there are Tyson Foods truck drivers earning well over $60,000 plus a year. Their pay does not include the excellent benefits that they also receive.
My guess is that the truck drivers of Tyson Foods are some of the best paid truck drivers in all of the United States of America. I would imagine that it will eventually be next to impossible getting hired onto Tyson Foods as an OTR truck driver, unless someone retires, or GOD FORBID, dies.Chinatown Thanks this. -
There's something going on that they now recruit from CDL schools. At one time you needed inside connections to get a job there and they required a couple yrs. experience.mje Thanks this.

I knew a guy that left Tyson Food to get a job driving a stick hauler that payed peanuts compared to Tyson. lol, yeah no joke the guy did it because his GF complained about him not being home every weekend. Long story short she left him for guy with more money.

just a couple years ago you needed a year experience to get on with them
I have seen tyson trucks in CA -
That is TRULY and GENUINELY terrible what the girl friend did to this ex-Tyson Foods truck driver. However, I do realize that many people will say that the ex-Tyson Foods truck driver had the option of say "NO" to begin with. IT CAN BE A TOUGH CALL.
I wonder if the ex-Tyson Foods truck driver can reapply to get his old job back. That TRULY and GENUINELY was a fantastic job that he left for the sake of his girl friend.Chinatown Thanks this. -
He can always get a new girl friend using the old "I'm rich if you're single" line.
He should keep a backup plan like I do; every time I get married, while listening to the vows being read, I'm eyeballing the brides maids.mje Thanks this.
