I know a two-year OTR driver there doing 90k a year... If you can handle OTR you could do far worse...

I don't know if they have layover pay, though. This is a important spec people RARELY bring up but it's the one thing that can protect you from bad companies...

We have layover, breakdown, short miles and stop pay, but I don’t have the current rates here in the truck. I can say that regional stop pay is $35.00, and layovers pay at $100.00 per 12 hours. The others I haven’t used lately, and I don’t want to provide bad info. Maybe another Tyson driver can step in here?

I’m working on 3 years here, and no plans to leave.

I absolutely recommend working here! They take great care of us, and the pay/benefits/work life balance are fantastic. That said, it’s still reefer work. There are going to be grocery warehouses, midnight deliveries and occasional bad smells. If those things don’t bother you, you can have a really great career here!

I’ve got 8 or so more years before I turn in the keys for good, and as far as I’m concerned, those keys will fit a Tyson Volvo.

Does Tyson do a whole lot of switching between days and nights or mostly just staying on nights ? I usually see them shutting down pretty early

That mainly depends on the driver. A lot of our customer loads deliver in the wee hours. It’s been easy for me to use a split and roll myself back to days, if I want. I like to start my day around 0300, and I can do it pretty consistently.
