Tyson Foods currently is in a hiring freeze in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Indiana, Illinois, and Texas...Our trucks are governed around 70 mph. We hire students but you will be with a certified trainer for a few months, during that time you will be making training pay. After that you will be making a base mileage pay which can be found at the website and click on the driver careers link. We usually hire within 150 miles from a Tyson Transportation terminal which are located in New Holland Pennsylvania, Wilkesboro North Carolina, Center Texas, Springdale Arkansas. But there have been exceptions like if you live close to one of our delivery lanes or close to one of our production plants. We do some slip-seat, due to the nature of our business, since we are a private fleet and we do not keep empty trucks. I have been with Tyson Foods since January 2000, and I have averaged this year between 2100 and 3300 miles per week. We have an excellent benefits package, superb equipment, and 95% no touch freight...I have never been in a trailer as a driver. We have dedicated fleet managers and fleet specialists that ensure you are taken care of as far as loads and home time. Average OTR out time is 10 to 14 days minimum...we get 1 day off for every 6 days out. Paid holidays after your 90 days, paid uniforms, discounts on various services such as cellular, computers, car purchases, we have our own credit union, a good retirement package, just too many perks to name. It has it's ups and downs as any company does, but if you are a hard worker and are willing to work, and want a dependable career that will support you and your family than this is the place to be. I wish I had come here after high school instead of wasting years elsewhere.

And as for the illegal immigration worker status...if you look at current worker and company policies there are no known illegals working in or at Tyson Foods. If you look at the recent (7 years ago) immigration issues that Tyson Foods was involved in, it was a single plant in Tennessee and the management involved in that plant worked within their own motives and methods of hiring to place those illegals in the employ of that facility...when it was reported to authorities and made known to Tyson Foods Inc. immediate action was taken to remove said illegals, and management from that facility. So do your homework before you accuse a company that provides almost 75% of AMERICAS Poultry, Beef and Pork products to your table buddy...yes your table...if you ate at Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, KFC, Popeyes, Dominoes, Applebees, Wal[IMG]Mart, KingSooper, Albertsons, Ingles, Kroger, Brunos, WinnDixie, SaveALot, Gordon Grocers, almost all the military installations, schools, prisons and many other places...then I thank you for helping me and many other legal Americans keep their jobs....

"Takes a sip of good hot coffee" Hey! I live out here in Vegas. I eat Tyson chicken with my coffee all the time. How come they do not hire out west? I hear non Tyson drivers moaning and groaning about Tyson brokered loads out west here. And I occasionally see a Tyson food moving unit from out east driving by. So my question is why does Tyson not hire out here in the west?

He said "slipseat", It means when you are out of the truck on off time, some one else is pushing it down the road.

I'm thinking about heading back out, and was looking at tyson and central ref. Never hauled a ref, was working for maverick hauling a flatbed. Just wondering between the two companies which has the best perks? Trucks, equipment, fleet managers...ect. any info will help thanks.
