Tyson Foods?

I dont know much about the loug haul part of Tyson. but i do work for Tyson as a yardman. I have talked to alot of the Tyson drivers and looked at the inside of the trucks, and all and all i have heard nothing but good comments about driven for them. But iam tryen to get my CDL's. i have to talked to the plant i work for. and thay told me that Tyson is not pay for the traineing no more. I would like to know if i pay for the class. well that hirer me to drive for them after i finish the class or what is the deal with that?

 

I don't know. Since you work there, you might ask them. But of course you need to go through truck driver school regardless of whether they pay for it or not. Being hired as a trainee is different from going through the training.

 

Tyson has recently lost a great person and leader CEO Don Tyson. His son John Tyson is now running the company. Tyson's private fleet recently went to E Logs. It is a reduction in miles for many drivers. We are dealing with it. Some drivers like the idea of a solid 10 hrs off. Some don't. Tyson offers by a huge margin more amenities then most outfits. Paid holidays, vacation, layovers and the best is if you want to unload a stop you get 70% of what the lumper charges. I got 58 bucks for unloading one pallet. Took 5 minutes. The benefits are very good and the people want to know your name then number. Huge food discounts at company stores that sell all that Tyson offers. Feed your family for a week with 60 bucks. I can go on and on but if 40 cents a mile and a week paid vacation after a year in is not appealing then maybe you should stay where you are. Food never sleeps. The more depressed/broke/whatever people may get. You gotta eat. That's job security. Hope this helps those that want to join our family of team members.
