This is typical of about 60% of the larger companies.
I would venture to guess, they don't wish to dole out a bunch of cash to find out later there are issues that the drivers may not have been forethright. You are not employed until the end of oreintation. Some compaines pay for meals, some don't. Why do they have to pay to feed you? Basically, it boils down to truckin'

Yes, it is necessary for that person to vent. Many other drivers may need to as you say "get the point" about crappy dishonest companies. The poor business practices of us express I am a seasoned veteran, squeaky clean dac and clean mvr and was recently exposed to orientation with us express, basically I wasted a week of my time as well. I was eventually hired on, but declined, if this is how the company operates during orientation how then will they operate when I am an employee. The exhaustive posting would have been useful if I had discovered it pre trip to tunnel hill ga. shame on me I wasted my gas and 1 weeks’ worth of wages. I should have done more research on usx business policies and practices, however shame on people like you, we all need to unite and work as brothers and sisters to expose these companies for what they are, and maybe then we can make a living wage and save our dignity, and take back what these companies have taken from us. Wake up and stop being so mean.

My wife used to run for USX and liked it. They were very understanding when she had to leave due to family issues and would like for her to go back. She's looking into their team policies before jumping back in. She was out of the OKC OK terminal.

Usxpress kept calling me and asking when I was going to be ready for orientation. So I quit on company and go to Chicago for orientation. Spent a week there and they could not verify a gap in employment so I get put on a 23 hour bus ride home. The next week I get on the phone and they tell me I need to get 3 letters from friends not relatives that knew that I worked for the company in that time frame. I do so and get my friends to write and get letters notorized. I fax them monday and all is ok. I call Tuesday and the recruiter is on vacation and I get another person. Nothing gets done that week so and other week with no pay.
Into it to far to quit now so I wait till Monday and person gets back from vacation and says for me to get on bus and go to Dallas. I do so all week in Dallas no pay and on Friday I am told I need 2 more letters from friends. I get pissed and said I was done. Then I thought well I am here might as well. I get letters and asked my friends to call me when they get contacted. They call me and say the person just asked their address and wanted to know if the had a home phone. I was told they needed to talk to someone that knew that I worked for that company and all would be ok. So like a idiot I wait till 4 pm Friday for some answer but no answer yet. Finally they tell me that they think something is not right and said I am not hired and I get sent back home. Now I am out 4 weeks with no money and no job. The trainer in Dallas was great he tried to get it all fixed but did not happen. So I get back home to my wife and daughter broke and pissed off. I get online and get a job the same week had to take another bus ride but so far they have been great with me. And quess what they verified my employment history before I got on the bus. Which is what USXpress should do then that way they do not screw people over like they did me. Why not just say hey you are not hired and l could have gone on the first week. Instead 3 weeks like I said Im an idiot. Just so noone else will go what I went thru. If they say they need letters or some crap like that get out of there. There were several drivers that did that Tuesday I should of left with them.

I've accused USX of being a dysfunctional bunch of idiots for awhile. Crap, they were worse than Werner.
No doubt you've done MUCH better than them. Good luck with where ever ya are now, and just chalk it up as a bad example of a company. Some how, some people like it there. I guess it proves out that some companies work for a driver, and others don't. Just don't let it bother ya too much.:biggrin_25525:

I worked for them about 5 years ago right outta school and they were not to bad. I went back a couple of weeks ago they said I was good to go give my notice and come on I rode the bus all night and got there # 5 am in Daulton Ga # pilot where the bus dropped us off we did not get picked up till 7 am we went straight to hotel and they had NO rooms avail. Had to wait hr and half then had to pay extra to get single room and they would not have any double occup. till 11 am. I slept most of day then had to get up # 4:15 to be in lobby by 5:15 am to be # terminal by 7 am. I got to terminal got orientation started started filling out paperwork, got to 1st break then started eye exam, got felt up by old person, then I had to get in too basically the fetal position standing up and walk like a duck with head down and palms of hands grazing the ground all under 42 inches if u touch the hangers u are disqualified. I am 6'1 440 lbs and I touched the hanger with shirt tail they sent me home. Wow anyway like they said your not guaranteed a job till you get assugned a truck. They did tell me I could come back in 30 days.

they also sent a man home the same day for stepping up on 2nd step of a ladder and his toe barely touched bottom step. they said bye bye to him.

its not impossible to do just you have to jump thru hoops that a driver does not need to do. i am curious on how their drivers now pass the same physical.......

    Just my expirence. Big Boi

My truckdriving teacher was with US-Xpress for many years and said it's a good company, so I started with them, went to orientation, training, upgraded and am now running all 48 and love it. I like the equipment and they are running me good miles. After 1 month being a solo driver I must say this is making me happy, they are running me good miles, it is what I wanted, what I can handle, and I have also time to keep practicing backing - yeh I am disciplined, strive to learn as much possible always try to improve my skills in the many levels on this profession. I've made some mistakes but I communicate that I am a new driver need a lil more time to do things right, and dispatch is understanding with me. So far, this is working for me.
