I have been warning people since I left USX about what a solo at that company can expect. and after reading through the many testimonials I wonder where the guy is that said my experience with the outfit being 6years old did not mean squat since it was not recent? They are worse now then when I worked there Mr. flood and the rest.

If you are a solo and your company puts 20 to 25% of their long haul frt on the rails you are going to get screwed. They take it in the shorts now days to dh you hundreds of miles so you sit till they can find a load or have a team that wants to get rid of their load.

I have almost 22yrs experience and almost 7 of that was at USX. And it is a fact not a opinion that USX uses the solo company driver to support their team and lease operation. You will not get more miles and more money. To make more miles and more money as a solo at USX you can in no way be on electronic logs and running in a 14hrs window.

My last year OTR at USX I did 96k 18 to 22 loads a month and was not even on E-LOGS. You are just not gonna make good money repowering teams ans O/O and running rail frt at what they pay. The first year they went to the rails I took a 15k pay cut and that was with the 3 penny raise they gave everyone when the new 11/14 logs rules started.

You want to work at USX as a solo? sell everything and live out of your truck and stay out 4-6 weeks. Thats the kind of solos they want so you can keep their spoiled brat teams happy.

bigblue wheh I worked for them the OK City terminal looked like an RV resort parking lot. A lot of the drivers lived out of them for time off.

Yep, I used to do road tests at their cattle calls there at 10 bucks a head. They had newbies busting down the doors to run those auto shift trucks. Should of seen the look on some of their faces when they got in my truck and it was still a 10 speed.:biggrin_25525:

i started out on an auto w/transam but had a 10 speed w/jb hunt. i much prefer a 10 speed over an auto. at least w/the 10 speed, it gives you something to do on those long trips......shift gears:biggrin_2552:

As far as usx bringing as many people into orientation, they do not run background checks on anyone until you get to orientation.

They've always done it that way & have no idea why, but I personally think it's a stupid way of hiring people, they did the same thing when I worked for them back in 1999 & 2001.

Don't get started, a few years back I went rounds and rounds with USX applicants on this forum who claimed they where prehired by USX. And where claiming USX reneged on a promise to hire them.

Go to USX with credit card or cash in hand if you are going to USX orientation. That walk to the gate will be a long one if you go there with mty pockets thinking you where prehired and they decide for any number of reasons to send you away some which have nothing to do with if you are qualified to drive or not. And remember they will get all hands on deck to try to get a team driver qualified. Solo? :biggrin_2559: better have your ducks in a row and rabbits feet for good luck hanging from your hat.:biggrin_25525:

I worked at USX for 2 years and loved it. However my location in Florida, I was given the lease or team option and I chose to resign. No harsh feeling. I would go back in a heartbeat
