Exactly what I was thinking about. Does it exist? Well, as a newbie in the topic I didn't know the freight brokerage platforms, but considered it wouldn't be a problem to create one. However, because I get told how hard the job is (at least in Europe) from my daddy I'd have the intention to keep prices fair enough for truck drivers, even if it's challenging.

Can imagine that Uber is using an algorithm that is respecting local supply and demand and prices surge if there are suddnely fewer trucks than freight (like aber bigger events), so my idea would be to create profiles for drives with ratings to fade out the black sheeps so that good drivers get a little extra and it depends on how close you are to the freight-position. Based on what I know about Uber (banned in Germany) it works too different from how I would design it.

@ChicagoJohn: Thanks, you are right. And they also claim that riders aren't insured and have no license, though Uber replied to the insurance topic.

I live in mortal terror of a true Uber for trucks. The way you should all fear automated trucks. The robotic unemployment complex is coming for us all eventually I guess.

Several tech companies have waisted their time and energy trying to develop freight matching algorithms but failed.
Heck the leading brokers and leading carriers can't even develop a decent app to this day let alone find trucks to move their freight on occasions and rely heavily upon loadboards.
There are so many challenges and variables in trucking industry so I am curious to see how Uber or Amazon is going to pull off this stunt.

    Mattflat362 Thanks this.

By that math thats $2.43 a mile. If I could pick up 200 lb loads for that amount of cheddar in a suv and no lumper fees/freight handling I wouldn't stop, nor would I have to because I'm not hooked on federal laws, scales, and log books. Lol
But I get what your saying though about $100/day. Also location and demand make a huge difference. Plus HOS, maybe she only picks up one person a day.

The way to defeat this app and bs is to not use it.

Also, I will call a taxi before i get some random college kid or worse. Using uber is like someone using a trucking company that blatantly disregards the rules
